Who I Am
Well, I'm a woman all my life, a mother of one for 10 years and 33. More than that, I'm abrasive and audacious and maybe a bit eccentric. I'm a yeller by nature, a gentle parenter by choice. I've been a daycare teacher for 8 years. I've successfully ran every single age range of children in daycare for at least 1 year each, my biggest time being spent between the ages of 3 and 10. Turns out, I prefer 8-15. Somewhere in there my brain is still healing from when I was a child so it's just my easiest group. They tend to hear me better than any others without yelling.
I'm also a neopets player, d&d lover and regular poker of anything I can find in the creek.
What This Business Is For
Listen. There's a lot of accredited businesses out there for this field. They've jumped through a lot of expensive hoops, didn't ask a lot of questions... and now they cost an outrageous amount. YOU can't afford them because YOU are barely making it as is on full time and you fucking want time with your children, right? Aren't you even a little bit upset about all this? Willing to do things a bit different if it means you can gain something WORTH it back? Well. I think I've found a way.
What I Believe
- Students deserve beauty, truth, structure, and wonder. They also deserve time with their parents and time to become who THEY should be. We are all students, we never stop being students.
- Parents deserve support that respects both the learning process of human development and the reality of how our lives are. They need a curriculum that is flexible and growing. They need one that once purchased, is the only one you need. If you're homeschooling, you do not need multiple $500+ curriculum every year. You need systems. ONE full 0-20 year old curriculum standards. THEN SYSTEMS: Systems for storage, systems for planning, systems for daily proceedure, systems for observation and systems for documenting.
- Learning tools should be meaningful, not just loud plastic clutter that has some specific function and then becomes usless to you. Over consumption and over production is literally destroying our planet and the increase in shipping prices is only making local economies and learning to make new out of old more and more crucial. I can help you there!
- We should raise better humans on purpose. We owe it to ourselves and our children to admit that WE are never done learning. We need to develop the way we look at life into something our children CAN live with, not something that needs to be hidden from them. They aren't hidden. They're tucked behind closed doors where only monsters seem to have access to them. I was one of those kids... and I have made it a mission to do the best I can to open that door and yank those monsters right out of their hiding places!
What This Is Not
- random busywork for children to facilitate blinde memorization.
- plastic, loud, disposable learning.
- disconnected subjects with no meaning encouraging thoughtless followings
- Overpriced materials that serve one function then get stored for the rest of the year...
